The Congress party refutes speculation about Kamal Nath's switch to the BJP, asserting that he will actively participate in the Nyay Yatra.

On Monday, the Congress categorically dismissed rumors surrounding party leader Kamal Nath's potential switch to the BJP, labeling it as "misinformation." Jitendra Singh, Congress general secretary in charge of Madhya Pradesh, emphasized that Kamal Nath, the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, would actively participate in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi in the state. Singh addressed reporters at the Congress headquarters, stating that the speculation about Nath and his son Nakul Nath joining the BJP was propagated by the BJP and the media. Singh confirmed that Kamal Nath would play a prominent role in the upcoming Nyay Yatra and that discussions about the event were underway. When questioned about the likelihood of Nath and his son switching to the BJP, Singh dismissed it as mere speculation and accused the BJP of spreading misinformation. He affirmed that Kamal Nath would unequivocally participate in the Nyay Yatra when it reaches Madhya Pradesh later in the month. Singh also confirmed Nakul Nath's participation in the yatra as an MP of the Congress party. Addressing reporters in Delhi, Kamal Nath urged them not to get carried away and assured them that if any such development occurred, he would inform them first. Kamal Nath, a seasoned politician who has collaborated with three generations of the Gandhi family, has been reportedly discontented due to not securing a Rajya Sabha berth. Additionally, his strained relationship with Rahul Gandhi following the Congress's defeat in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls last year has been a cause for concern. Nath was replaced as the Congress's Madhya Pradesh unit chief after the party's setback in the Assembly polls, where the BJP retained power with 163 seats out of 230. The Congress secured only 66 seats in the election.
